Dating, Facebook Style

Okay, so what is going on with Facebook? I know its a social networking site where we all stalk ex-boyfriends and look for cute crushes. But is it a place to find a date?

Recently, a friend of mine called and said she had someone she would like to set me up with. Seeing as how men are really lined up at my door...I said yes. She told me a bit about him and I agreed she could go ahead with the fix up. Well, I didn't hear from her about it, but low and behold a few days later I have a new friend request on facebook. And you guessed it, it was from that guy! Seriously?! You're going to facebook friend me? I was really surprised. To me a set up is an exchange of phone numbers or even e-mails, but not friending someone you don't even know on facebook! What do you think??

I always deny guys who I am going out with at first! It is to weird....they have so much access to your life with FB. I would send him a message (without accepting him as a friend with your phone number).

I find the FB add when you are still figuring out whether or not to be in each other's lives in a romantic capacity very uncomfortable. Sure it makes stalking easier but I'm always worried I will osbsess too much over it and look like a pyscho if I FB request after the second date.

You could always add him as a limited friend -- can't have access to your personal info (and whatever else you decide to limit, including pics and posts and stuff). Then it's not rude, but he can't use it to really learn anything about you (positive OR negative stuff).

It can be a little strange seeing as you don't actually know each other. But...I do know a couple that met like that and are now married...so you never know! :)
